Step 1: The Deal

Each of the three players receives 13 cards from a standard 52-card deck. The remaining cards form the draw pile. One card is placed face-up to start the discard pile. Your goal is to reduce your hand's point value by forming melds.

Step 4: Winning the Game

Win by Tongits (all your cards are melded), Draw (opponent has no valid moves), or Challenge (end the round and compare scores). Face cards are worth 10 points, Aces are 1 point, and number cards equal their face value. Lowest score wins!

Keep track of what cards opponents are discarding. This gives you valuable information about what they're NOT collecting, helping you decide which cards to safely discard and which to keep.

Balance Sets and Runs

Don't commit to just one type of meld. Keeping flexibility between potential sets and runs increases your chances of completing melds quickly and adapting to changing game conditions.

Know When to Challenge

The challenge mechanic is powerful but risky. Use it when you're confident your hand value is low, but be cautious - if an opponent has Tongits, you'll pay double penalties!

Pay attention to which melds opponents are building. If someone is collecting hearts, avoid discarding hearts. If they need high cards, hold onto your face cards to prevent them from completing their sets.
